F.A.Q. Q. What exactly is Your Plates or Mine? A. Through in-home cooking classes, students learn how to cook the foods they love to eat in a relaxing, and hands on environment. To help you make the most of these classes, you begin by creating your own customized lesson plans and menus with the help of an encouraging and experienced chef-instructor. All menus are tailored to suit the tastes and skill level of each student. For inspiration, browse through our most popular menus. We can also set up a “learning the basics” class. Q. What is offered in a typical lesson? A. You are given instruction on how to cook a menu you have previously decided on. The use of knives and cooking techniques is included, and you are also given access to an online recipe guide. Q. Is my kitchen big enough to hold a cooking lesson? A. As long as you can put a cutting board down (in the kitchen or on the dining room table) as many times as there are students, you can comfortably learn to cook in your home kitchen. Q. How long is a lesson? A. Classes are approximately 2.5 hours and are centered around the preparation of a complete meal or dinner party. Q. Do I need any special equipment for the cooking lesson? A. The lessons are designed so they can be reproduced in a basic home kitchen. We can bring along some items that will make the process easier but, our focus is to help you produce meals using the equipment you already have. Q. When are lessons offered? A. We can accommodate even the most difficult of schedules! Afternoon, after work, and weekend classes are all available. As a courtesy to our instructor, we require a 48 hour notice to reschedule any booked class. Q. Is the food included in the price? A. Yes. The price includes food, instruction and access to online recipes. Surcharges may apply and are dependent on menu choices. Q. How much is a lesson? A. Please see our Pricing page for all prices. A standard 2.5 hour lesson for 1 or 2 students is $175.00. Q. How do I schedule a lesson? A. You can reach us by phone at 403.465.4325 or email
